Time for the 3rd Open up for Innovation – the event that highlights good examples of how Academia and Industry can collaborate to create a win-win for the parties and a greater outcome for society.
This quote sums up the subject well: "Harnessing motivations to facilitate collaboration to enriching overall expertise and access unique resources such as technology, knowledge, and capabilities, involves careful navigation of barriers and optimal use of enablers. The resulting University-Industry-Collaboration allows firms and universities to tap into complementary skills of each other and thus potentially help with saving cost and enhancing research outcomes" (Hemmertetal.,2014;605).
We expect around 70 researchers and 30 industry professionals to gather and connect to learn more about the potential in mutual collaborations and be inspired by those who already work in partnerships.
WELCOME to learn more about this on the 26th of March in Rotundan, Umeå University
Registration deadline: 18th of March, 1:00 PM.
PS. There will be a pre-event on ”Biotech and Food Resilience” on the 25th of March – more info coming.
Some voices from the previous events:
Mikael Elofsson, professor in Chemistry: “The Industrial Doctor School is a good example of a formalized way to collaborate. One reason to promote collaboration is that it makes academia better and more competitive.”
Jessica Martinsson, CEO Sweden BIO: “This event is a good example of collaboration. I hope other universities can do similar events.”
Emil Byström, CEO SpinChem: “Start to collaborate without funding, work on shorter projects, build trust, and then sign agreements. As a company, we often speak in terms of weeks, whereas academia thinks over years.”
Teresa Frisan, Professor in Cell and Molecular Biology: "Innovation is created when you open up and interact with others, if you are always inside the same box, you don’t learn anything outside the box."
Magnus Wolf-Watz, Professor in Biophysical chemistry: "As a researcher, it’s exciting to take fundamentally new steps and to be closer to utilizing our research. But to be able to collaborate, you need to have a big enough research group or partner with other research groups.”
Alexandra Patriksson, Science Relations Manager, Testa Center: "It was inspiring to take part of the event and the great networking opportunities. Collaborations are essential for the growth of Life
Science in Sweden."
David Lough, Director Academic Partnerships, Chiesi: “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in Open Up for Innovation – really good event!”
